Looking for Day 1 CPT Schools Around Seattle

Hi everyone, I’m currently in Seattle and unfortunately my H1B lottery wasn’t picked after three attempts. I hold a master’s degree in CS and now work as a SWE. I’m on F1 STEM OPT which expires in June, so I need to consider Day 1 CPT schools in the Seattle area to stay employed.

Does anyone know of Day 1 CPT schools near Seattle? I’m looking for minimal in-person attendance universities and the course load isn’t too intense. And I’ve looked at some AI-related programs already, but the options seem limited based on the information I’ve found. Any suggestions for Day 1 CPT courses that would align with my job and carry a low risk of RFE? Also, when would be the ideal time to start Day 1 CPT to avoid any employment gaps? I know approval can take around 5–15 business days, but not sure the best timing to avoid gaps.

I’m totally overwhelmed by conflicting info online. Any personal experiences or recommendations would be hugely appreciated, thanks in advance!

WA does not have any schools offering CPT. You can check California—there is a school that requires only one on-campus visit per semester.

Are you referring to Westcliff University? Do you have any reliable school recommendations?

One of my friends went to Westcliff, she mentioned that the scholarship there is pretty high, perhaps you can take a look

I’d say a school in Northern Cali is probably your best bet. Westcliff and Humphreys only make you go onsite once a semester, which is super chill.
Not totally sure about their enrollment dates, but the main thing is just pick the one that starts closest to when your OPT ends — makes life way easier.

I’ve been exploring their MSIT program, and it seems like it could be a good fit. Do you know what your friend’s experience was like there? How intense is the coursework?

@Lydia Thanks for the suggestion! :star_struck:I’m also looking into the IT programs at Westcliff and Humphreys, and I’ll probably end up choosing between them. A friend recently brought up Sofia University, have you heard of it?
