Does anyone know how to check the accredition for a CPT school? I have a JD already, but haven’t passed the bar yet. Would the CPT school effect future bar admission?
To check a CPT school’s accreditation, go to the U.S. Department of Education’s website and search the school in the Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (DAPIP). You want to see regional or national accreditation, ideally from a recognized accrediting body.
As for bar admission—yes, the school can affect it, depending on the state. Some bar associations are picky about whether your degree came from a properly accredited institution. If your CPT school looks sketchy or unaccredited, it could come back to bite you later.
