Anyone can share the process for the CPT application? What documents did your DSO require for CPT?

Sure! Here was my CPT application process:

  1. Got a job offer letter (had to include job title, duties, start/end date, hours/week, and employer info).

  2. Enrolled in a CPT-eligible course (internship or practicum tied to my major).

  3. Submitted CPT request form through my school’s online portal or directly to the DSO.

  4. Some schools also required:

• Academic advisor approval

• Statement of how the job relates to the program

  1. DSO reviewed and issued an updated I-20 with CPT authorization, usually within a few days.

You’ll need a job offer, and every school has its own CPT form for you and your HR to fill out. Just check your school’s website or shoot a message to the international office — they should have all the info you need.

Thank you for the info!! What is HR does not willing to fill out the form? Can I still get CPT?
