Hey everyone,
I already have a Master’s in Business Analytics (MSBA) from the U.S. and am now considering pursuing an MBA here as well. My main goal is to enroll in a Day-1 CPT college, but I’m wondering if this is the right move and whether it’s actually worth it.
Would getting an MBA from a Day-1 CPT school add significant value to my career, or would it be seen as redundant given my MSBA background? Also, if it’s worth pursuing, what are some good and safe Day-1 CPT colleges that I should consider?
I’d love to hear from anyone who has taken a similar path or has insights into the pros and cons of this approach. Appreciate any advice!
Thanks!
Do you currently have a job offer? It is more important for you to combine your study with your work so you will get more practical experience in the States. I personally think it will be more worth it to apply with a job offer, unless you have other status related concerns.
I’m doing MBA at CIAM and I think it’s a decent school : )
Sure, you can do that. Just pay close attention to the class catalog that is there some overlaps in your MSBA program and the MBA you’re going for. Some MBA program especially concentrate on analytics so I would stay away from repeating the same path if I were you.
it really depends on your job career and your interest.
If you’re aiming for a middle-management career, it’s worthwhile. However, I question the educational quality of CPT school lol, maybe choose a good one.
Hey Kulisana!
Is an MBA after MSBA redundant?
It depends on your goals:
• If you want to broaden your leadership, management, and strategic skills, an MBA can complement your technical MSBA background well.
• But if you’re just doing it for Day 1 CPT and work authorization, keep in mind that immigration officers may question the academic progression — especially if the MBA content overlaps too much with your MSBA.
• Some students who’ve done this successfully made sure their MBA had a distinct concentration (e.g., Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or Organizational Leadership) to show it adds value beyond their analytics degree.
