How did y'all explain Day 1 CPT to your HR?

My OPT is about the expire and still didn’t get the lottery after 3 years, so I’m thinking about switching to Day 1 CPT. I’m not sure there has been previous cases of people using CPT to work previously. How did you all explain this concept to your boss or HR so they write the approval letter for you? Are companies mostly flexible on this?

as straight forward as you can. there is really no better ways to “cover” it. but the bottom line is the company doesn’t have to pay too much. all you need from them is a signature. well, if you want them to sponsor part of your tuition, then that’s another story. some companies do, rare though. I think the key is the ensure your employer you want to stay with the company for the long run.

just like how you explain OPT. No sponsorship necessary, just sign documents to prove your working relationship, should be easy. Best way is to let them know 1 on 1 about what you want, and follow up with a email explaining.

Did you mention Day 1 CPT to your manager/HR/ immigration or what exactly did you say because my company says they dont do day 1 CPT

I just say that I need to take a full-time student course to maintain my work permit, but the classes are mostly on weekends.

Tell the truth, be as straight forward and transparent as you can cuz you need to ask t hem to sign your documents.
