H-1B Visa: Opportunity or Lottery Gamble?

The H-1B visa stands as the main opportunity through which skilled foreign workers can pursue their career ambitions in the United States. Through its provisions the H-1B visa enables businesses to recruit specialists from fields that include technology and finance as well as healthcare. The H-1B visa system suffers multiple serious issues.

H-1B visa supporters state that it enables organizations to recruit top international specialists who stimulate both creativity and business expansion. The absence of this visa would create problems for many American businesses when trying to fill specialized job vacancies.

Several experts detect fundamental issues with this present system. Every year many qualified lottery participants face months of uncertainty because of the limited participating slots. Large technology companies misuse H-1B visas by selecting foreign workers who cost less than American job candidates. Both employees and employers are faced with unpredictability due to processing delays which coincide with shifting policies.

Is a H-1B system revision needed to base selection on qualifications rather than randomness? does the present H-1B framework execute the best strategy to integrate both job access for qualified candidates and equitable justice? The debate rages on.

20 yrs ago, when Elon Musk just came to the US, the H-1B was by qualification, almost everyone is able to get the H1b visa. And because there are so many ppl they are qualified, it became the lottery.
Currently the H1B lottery raise its bar-the petition’s salary needs to be above a specific range.
I don’t think it is a bad thing for sure, if you are beyond standard, why don’t you consider other methods?

A system based on qualifications may seem more valid on paper, but the way “qualifications” could be defined for such a system may introduce even more loopholes and injustice.
