I wanted to understand if anyone face any issues going or coming puerto rico from NYC?

puerto rico is part of the us, why would there be any difference from traveling to a different state?

Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, so you don’t need a visa or passport if you’re traveling from NYC — it’s like a domestic flight.

That said, if you’re on a visa (F1, H1B, etc.), it’s still a good idea to carry your ID, I-20 (if on F1), or work authorization documents just in case. TSA might occasionally ask, though most people go through without issues.

I’ve flown there and back on OPT with no problems — just kept my documents on me, didn’t need to show them.
