I’m currently in the final year of my OPT, working full-time at a mid-sized tech company. Unfortunately, I wasn’t selected in this year’s H-1B lottery, so I’m planning to enroll in a Day 1 CPT program to maintain my status.
At the same time, I’m hoping my company can start the green card process soon. However, the current policy is to begin PERM only after H-1B is approved — which may not happen anytime soon due to the lottery.
Now I’m trying to figure out how to bring up both topics (Day 1 CPT and green card sponsorship) with my manager in a way that feels natural. I don’t want to come across as someone who’s constantly asking for immigration support .
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Would appreciate any tips on how to navigate it.
