Is It Still Safe to Join a Day 1 CPT University in 2025?

With all the recent visa issues and SEVIS terminations, some students are starting to question whether Day 1 CPT programs are still a safe option. A few even reported getting RFEs or visa denials after transferring to such schools.

:face_with_monocle: Let’s Discuss:

  • Is anyone currently studying at a Day 1 CPT school? Any issues so far?
  • Which universities are considered ā€œsafeā€ and transparent?
  • How are students balancing work and study without raising red flags?

Would love to hear real experiences and advice from others in the same boat.

So far, I haven’t had any major issues with SEVIS or my visa, but I did a lot of research before choosing my school. I picked a university that has clear academic expectations, a consistent CPT policy, and good standing with USCIS ( mean that no previous history of blacklisting or mass terminations).

Sofia is a good school, has good reputation, low tuition and beautiful campus

That’s really smart — doing that kind of research upfront makes such a difference. Glad to hear things have been smooth for you so far! Thanks for sharing your approach — it’s super helpful for others too.

I’ve got a couple of friends at Westcliff who haven’t run into any issues, it’s been smooth sailing so far.

I think so. As long as we follow the SEVIS regulations and school rules, there shouldn’t be too many concerns.

Exactly, I agree. As long as we strictly follow SEVIS regulations and comply with all school policies, we should be on the safe side.

That’s great to hear! I’ve also heard positive experiences from others at Westcliff. It really seems like things go smoothly when students stay compliant and proactive.

I haven’t had any issues so far, transferring from H1B back to F1 student. I did a lot of research and always checked the timeline though. I consulted with my company’s attorney and goelite advisor regularly and made sure all my documents were submitted timely. It’s stressful but triple checking all your papers, then you should be good.
My first quarter was rough. Balancing working fulltime and studying fulltime was not easy, but doable. Make sure you check and submit your homework on time, and regularly. I check my work and school calendar every morning to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

Yeah, I’d definitely stick with schools that have a solid reputation and a bigger student base, it makes the whole CPT process smoother. Westcliff’s one I’ve heard good things about, might be worth checking out.

Absolutely! I’ve also heard great feedback about Westcliff. It seems like a reliable option, especially for students looking for a smoother CPT journey. Have you looked into their program formats or CPT timelines yet?

:innocent: :smiling_face_with_tear: :face_without_mouth: The thing is I feel like I don’t have any other choices…
