How much do you really need to earn to buy a 3-bedroom house in different states?

Just came across some numbers showing the income you’d need to buy a 3BHK across different U.S. states and honestly… it’s wild.

Places like California, Hawaii, and New York are basically untouchable unless you’re deep into tech or making 6 figures+. Meanwhile, states like Texas, North Carolina, and even parts of the Midwest seem way more realistic — no wonder so many people (especially desis and other international folks) are moving there.

I’m based in Chicago now, and even here it’s not cheap. Been thinking about long-term plans after H1B or green card, and this kinda stuff makes you really start looking at places like Dallas or Raleigh seriously.

Anyone here already bought a place? Or planning to? Curious what your take is, especially if you’re thinking of settling in the U.S. long-term.
