Anyone Had Luck with Contract or Temp Jobs?

Hey everyone,

Since full-time jobs with sponsorship are so hard to get, I’ve been wondering if contract or temp positions might be a better way in. I know they don’t always lead to sponsorship, but at this point, getting any experience in the U.S. job market seems better than nothing.

Has anyone gone this route? Do companies ever convert contractors to full-time hires with sponsorship, or is it usually a dead end? Also, how does it even work with OPT/CPT—do short-term jobs cause any issues with status?

Would love to hear if anyone has tried this and what your experience was like!

Some companies offer sponsorships for contractors, such as GM motor, and ICCs, and the employees have a lot of chances jump to their client companies. Try to networking as much as you can, some companies offer temp job sponsorships. Further, if you are under opt, it is totally fine for you to do short-term jobs and volunteer jobs.
