Hello! I am planning to take admission in Westcliff University, California in MBA (financial management). I’m gonna opt for 1st year full time CPT and another year part time. So, where can I get job in first year, can i work in bank? because my field of study is related to finance and accounting.
Where can I do job in the first year? What would be the best companies with the good salary?
Need to manage my tuition fees + every expenses as California is an expensive city.
You can work anything related with finance! Or look more into your course description and find jobs align with those. I think you might have a better shot at small/medium size company under Day 1 CPT.
Let’s say you earn $5,000 a month, after taxes, you take home around $3,500 in the LA metro area. Housing costs really vary: you could live in a shared room with 10+ bunk beds in Monterey Park for about $300–$500 a month, or rent a luxury 1B1B apartment in Pasadena for much more.
Same goes for food, you could cook at home for about $500 a month, or eat out regularly, which could easily run you $20+ per meal.
It really depends on the lifestyle you choose, LA can be as affordable or as expensive as you make it. (This is LA’s case, and it is more affordable than SF)
Hi! Since your MBA is in Financial Management, you can absolutely work in banks, accounting firms, or finance-related companies during your CPT, as long as the job aligns with your field of study. Roles like financial analyst intern, accounting assistant, or banking operations are common. In California, pay usually ranges from $20–30/hour, which can help with tuition and living expenses. Start applying early on LinkedIn or Indeed, and check if Westcliff has partner companies too. Best of luck with everything!
