Can Foreigners Join US Army?

Hi, I keep hearing that veterans get amazing benefits like healthcare, tuition help, even immigration paths. Since getting a US green is more and more difficult these days joining the military seems like an alternative worth exploring.

But can non-citizens join US army? Is it true that serving can help with getting permanent residency faster?

If anyone has real experiences or knows someone who’s done it, would love to hear your thoughts!

i think it used to be easier
i heard it’s harder now

Why? Any policy change?

Yes, non‑US citizens can enlist in the U.S. military, but only under specific conditions—and military service can accelerate the path to citizenship, not green card.

not sure this is an option
